Out and about

Having just retired, with a walking condition, I‘d like to make property owners, shopping malls, bus / rail / air terminals, grocery & retail stores, airports, EVERY hotel / resort / spa etc that seniors need two main items to be readily available in their day to day outings:

A place to sit down & rest a moment.....

Handrails WHENEVER there is even one step up.....or one step down.

Its 2020 and the boomers are out in numbers.
We only grow in numbers for another few years but....there’s another gen***** coming.

Make things easier and safer and we all benefit.

That will then be a perfect world...

I agree... I have a lower back problem and I really need handrails at times.... and I'm only 64.. not 90.. however i"m confused as to why your word, presumably ''generation''...is asterisked

I live within walking distance of 3 parks. One across the street. There are benches all through every one. Even along our streets in the downtown area there are benches to sit down. I now use a rolling walker if I am walking so I have my seat with me. Need it most in Walmart check out lines! lol

All of this would be very nice, but unfortunately, Seniors with disabilities aren't thought of very much. Even those without much-to-any disabilities aren't thought of much. Everything cost money.

We used to have a few park benches scattered around the apartment complex where I live and then one day they all disappeared.

It's an unsolved mystery but the prevailing theory is that the management removed them because it encouraged the residents to get to know each other and compare notes/complain about various issues with living here, the difference in rent from one tenant to another, etc...

These days I'm aware of all the little places to sit for a minute and the location of restrooms!

I'm lucky to have benches and picnic tables around my apt. complex, especially nice on a pretty day.

Walking is a great way to get exercise daily, and I do plenty of it, but I agree about benches being available for resting stops.
I usually stop at one on my daily walks with my dog.. and many times someone will coma along and join us.
Some of my favorite conversations are on those benches.

Hello and welcome Dave, I remember the days when all shops had a chair or two, especially chemist for those waiting for a prescription
