Here's how health care here is today. Doctors allot each patient a 10 minute window. They won't go beyond that. In that window, you can discuss one, and only one ailment. If you want to discuss another ailment, then you need to have another appointment. It's all to do with how the NHS measures Doctor performance. It's crazy.

I totally lucked out with my doctor. She's associated with a medical university and is a university instructor as well as a family physician. She's instructive with her patients, too, but also very open to input from her patients.

The only caveat is that she sometimes brings a student into the exam room with her. But she always asks if that's ok before-hand. And, of course, I always say yes, no matter what's about to be exposed.
