Painting shutters today.

I repainted our bedroom trim work recently. It was an ugly green and it certainly didn't go with a blue gray rug. I don't know what I was thinking. Years ago when we bought the shutters they were wooden and could easily be made to fit, which the hubby did. I priced new ones and just about dropped dead. Most are made from some kind of plastic.. At our age we didn't need the expense. First I tried doing it with a brush. I couldn't get into all the nooks and crannies. I bought some white spray primer and paint and it seems to be working fine. It was cooler and dryer today so I hung them on an old clothes line to paint and dry. I doubt they will open and shut but we always left them shut anyway so not a problem. About 18 to go. Sounds like a lot but easier than with a brush. Tbedroom before (800x600).jpgshutters (800x600).jpghank goodness for spray paint.

Very nice Ruth. Spraying is the way to go with a project like this.

I have them all across my living room windows. However they are wood grained and I wouldn't DARE paint them. They are almost floor to ceiling.

My cleaning lady uses furniture polish on them.
