Paradise....in name only

This fire is 100 miles from us but we are being severely impacted by it. It started yesterday morning at about 6:30 am and by the time I left for work at 9:45,our sky was already filled with smoke and by two hours later you couldn`t see across the street. All schools are closed today as the air quality is so poor. They were handing out masks to the kids at school yesterday.

We were,of course, evacuated during our fire back in July/August,but a friend who drives a water truck and stayed here during the evacuations, posted lots of pics and video on Facebook and I don`t think the air here was ever as bad as it is right now. I have mild asthma and was coughing uncontrolably for several hours last night. Yuck.

California is getting it again from all sides. :( Mrs. Robinson, hoping for the best for you and yours....are you still planning on moving out of state?

The fire threatening Malibu is hundreds of miles from the fire in Paradise, CA. We are dealing with wicked Santa Ana winds and the hillsides are tinder dry.

Thanks, RR. We are keeping an ear open for sirens and an eye on the skies. Under these conditions a fire can go from zero to sixty in less time than it takes me to type this sentence.

Was just watching on the news, how horrific and terrifying for those affected. Starsong and others nearby, please stay safe....thinking of you.

Thank you for your thoughts. The Santa Ana winds have died down for now. We expect a 24 hour respite before they rev back up again. With humidity hovering at 10% and 0% chance of rain in the ten day forecast this will be a long battle for our firefighters.

My firefighter son Corey is in the midst of all that, fighting through exhaustion (he just got a break after fighting these fires 40 hours straight)

Love and light to everyone affected.

I'm praying for all of you that are dealing with this.
It's horrifying to see on television so I can't imagine being there.
They showed the video on TWC of the family desperately driving through the flames to get out.
Please stay safe!

So sorry you are being adversely affected Mrs. Robinson. Such a frightening, tragic event!

I have a friend on another networking site who has taken in 9 relatives and one of their pets who was displaced by this terrible fire. When I was first seeing it on the news, I hoped none of my online friends, all of whom have formed quite close bonds, would be affected.
