Paris doctors warn of catastrophic overload of virus cases

Critical care doctors in Paris say surging coronavirus infections could soon overwhelm their ability to care for the sick in the French capital's hospitals, possibly forcing them to choose which patients they have the resources to save.

The sobering warnings were delivered in newspaper opinions signed by dozens of Paris-region doctors. They came as French President Emmanuel Macron has been vigorously defending his decision not to completely lockdown France again as he did last year. Since January, Macron’s government has instead imposed a nationwide overnight curfew and followed that with a grab-bag of other restrictions.

But with infections soaring and hospitals increasingly running short of intensive-care beds, doctors have been stepping up the pressure for a full French lockdown………………………

From almost day one my opinion has been, the world has been going about the whole Covid thing the wrong way, and so far I stand correct.

Maybe when countries lose enough of their population it will register with them and they'll wake up, and until such a time I'm going to continue moving forward in my quest to protect myself the best way I know how...

- Staying away from everybody
- Not buying into eating-out or taking-out
- Being stringent on my hygiene
- Staying home as much as possible

People have short memories. This virus has been with us now for well over a year, and those who haven't had the illness, or had anyone in their family, or close friends, get sick, or die, are starting to ignore the consequences of getting this virus. Companies and small businesses are putting increasing pressure on the politicians to allow normal operations. Young people think they are immune, and gather in large numbers at every opportunity. People in larger population centers/cities have little choice but to come in contact with many others as they try to go to work, or have to so some shopping.
These vaccines seem to be the answer, but we are in a race between getting the vast majority vaccinated, and more people taking risks as mild weather arrives. The next 3 or 4 months should tell the story....either this virus will become a minor issue by Fall, or we will have more "spikes" in the infection/death numbers.

Sad as this report is, they have to look at their own President Macron,
because of his hate for the British, he started to rubbish the vaccine
made by AstraZeneca by saying it doesn't work on people over the age
of 65 years, then that it caused blood clots, these were lies, but his plan
backfired when his own people didn't want the jab.

France put all of its trust/faith into a French Pharmaceutical company in
the South of the Country, who will not have a vaccine before next year,
they blame US system for taking their best research scientists away from
them.

I think this is probably only partially correct. My neighbor with the dog boarding business would like everything to be normal, but the large corporation that I work for has the whole time been more restrictive than local governments so I'm sure they aren't pressuring anyone to loosen up. I feel like my employer cares a lot more about my health and life than my governments do, tho I realize it is because the employees have financial value.
