I used to be so lazy I would rather drive across the street then putting in the effort to have to actually walk. Now I don't care where my granddaughter parks my car just as long as it's as close to any door I have to walk through.

A unique quiz. My choices

An empty double length spot where you can just pull in and drive directly out

You park as far away as other cars as possible as long as you can drive through.

I always back into any spot.

Long ago when I had safety as part of the determination for pay raises in the Corporation I worked for I instructed the employees under my responsibility to park like those choices. Went from 2 or 3 accidents yearly to zero after instituting that initiative. Corporate policy was changed to reflect my departments improved vehicle safety.

It didn't hurt my feelings when that policy went into effect since as a safety initiative it helped get me a 21% increase in pay.

To this day I follow that backing practice.

My car has 3 mirrors and a back-up camera and I still have almost hit pedestrians in parking lots. I look both ways, check my mirrors and camera, start backing up, and then someone magically appears by my back bumper. Where the hell did they come from?? Usually they are looking at their phone, not paying attention, but look up in time to give me a dirty look. That is why I prefer a pull through parking spot.

First of all, I look at a shopping trip as added exercise. When I arrive at the parking lot, I start near the front of the store and drive down the lane to the first spot where I can pull into an empty double length spot and just pull in and drive directly out when I leave, no matter how far away it is from the store door.

It's really annoying when you drive around and around to find that empty double length spot, finally find one, and just as you're pulling in, someone else pulls into the empty spot in front of you. You're already halfway in, so....oh, well.

Many years ago I read that there was a Freudian explanation for folks who liked to back into their parking spots. YMMV

p.s. - In Florida, you look for a spot with shade as a first priority.

I have no rear view camera, I've always been able to reverse into even the smallest of spaces, and usually do it in just 2 moves .. ( it's a talent that's served me well on British chocked roads)and I always reverse into a space whether on the road or in a car park, which makes it a lot easier to get out if I've got 2 huge vehicles park either side of me..

i think it depends on the situation
some times it is any spot.... do i need to load something want back clear ....
people around us make a difference too does next car look like demolition derby winner?

when grocery shopping once husband drove my car told him park here.................. he just HAD to pull into the front space so we could drive out ....i have quit telling him things as he thinks he is all knowing ...
brought out groceries and I said "i will sit here and see how you put them in hatch back" with a truck parking right on top of us from behind
he smartened up right then and there ...
asked why i never said anything as he had to pull forward to put bags in .... told him can't teach an old dog new tricks....

I never asked if anyone picks the parallel parking spots. We have a few of those in one of the malls. In my life, parallel parking doesn’t exist now and never did. 😉 I guess that’s one of things about living in a small town.

I have always been an excellent parallel Parker, it comes very easy to me ...my o/h was always full of admiration for how easily I can do that..he couldn't do it without a lot of shuffling back and forth...
