Pastrami vs. Corned Beef

At the local grocery, I sometimes order sliced corned beef and sometimes pastrami. Most of the time I can't tell the difference. Other times one seems like the other the last time I bought it. They are the same price per pound. These are the products from the store's web page:

So, here's where the difference between corned beef and pastrami comes into play. After curing, pastrami is usually coated in a dry rub of spices before it is smoked. On the other hand, corned beef is boiled.
 
I know that many people would think it is way too much work, BUT I often make my own corned beef. It takes 18 days of soaking in the brine.
 
My husband liked Turkey Pastrami. Hard to find..but there was one local deli that had it
