Ryan Kaji- $27 million

Starting in 2015 as Ryan ToysReview, Ryan’s World is a YouTube channel for children. Last year Ryan Kaji, the 9-year-old behind the channel, became the top earner on YouTube for the third year in a row, earning almost $30 million.

As of January 2022, Ryan’s World has over 32 million subscribers. In addition to his channel, Ryan now has clothing and toy lines and his own show on Nickelodeon.

Rhett and Link – $30 million

Rhett and Link are the founders of a talk show “Good Mythical Morning,” where they taste unbelievable food combinations, such as mac and cheese sushi. The duo runs three other channels on YouTube, and according to Forbes, also acquired Smosh — another successful channel on YouTube.

There are thousands of others.

I had read about this little boy (Ryan). Amazing! I can tell you from experience (and maybe music videos are different) but each play nets a pittance so those children have to have millions upon millions of plays to net that kind of money. Because these children are backed by major companies for touting their merchandise, perhaps they get paid much more per view.

Good points @OneEyedDiva Maybe the companies pay Ryan indirectly too.

Does anyone know if watching a few seconds of a youtube video gets as much as when someone watches the full thing. Does the length of a video affect how much they’re paid? Sometimes once it’s started, it’s obviously a click-bait video and I’d hate to think I’m helping them make money.

Do you think Senior Forums' folks could get rich if we had a You Tube channel ??? It might motivate newbies to post more often, me thinks!

There is a fellow on YouTube that does videos about flying. He’s a 747 pilot and I had met him a few times. Definitely a likable fellow. He goes by the monicker 74 Gear. I have taken in some of his videos and he is spot on about 90% of the time. He’s very entertaining and means well. I think he does well monetizing on YouTube. He has about 890k subscribers, which is how you make money. Getting a lot of subscribers.

depends on the format some only count views ...IF you watched whole video to end... that is why so many hold the item they are going to show you or special news at END of video.
it is all corporate sponsored ..... hope those (Ryans) parents who do most of videos (very annoying watched ONE with my grandchild once) are planning for after someone else comes along taking same audience they come and go in a couple of years as the videos get boring and repeated.
