Deb, are all the houses in that area old houses? I remember your mentioning that your own had been around for many, many years. Now, this is probably a silly question, but where on earth did the inhabitants keep their horses/carriages in the olden days? Maybe I'm just not seeing them, but there don't appear to be any outbuildings that look as though they were once carriage houses.
In my area , church and schools still have home made cake stalls ,its a big money maker and ive done my share of baking for Playschool funds

They were all probably built around the same time at the turn of the 20th Century. Mine was built in 1897. The carriage houses, if any, probably faced the parallel back street (Neilson). People that live on my block turn up Lansing, hang a right on Neilson and park along that street or their driveways, if they have any, that face Neilson.
