Have you heard any of *those* Outrageous news stories, yet? Like the one in Nevada.
About the Abusive Guardian?
Those Unbelievable stories, claiming, that Court Insiders are able to "Legally" VOID Estate Plans, at will, especially your Trust *AGREEMENT* (Not Contract).
If the stories are even a *little bit* true, it's hard not to wonder what those people "did" to get themselves in a situation like that.
These stories seem to, pop up, briefly, every couple of years, but they consistently fail to break through the Cognitive Dissonance this subject creates.
Unable to make you aware, of the Absolute Danger, you are in just by being an older individual, with Assests.
Every State is infected, but of course, in retirement heavy States, Guardianship is a Booming Business Model
I've heard there is a company selling franchises.
I do know, that on average, over 500 new Guardians are *CERTIFIED* Every Month, but I think there are probably, more, self declared Guardians, that don't take the 100 Question, Multiple Choice, CERTIFICATION EXAM, because they don't have to.
They do have one, very important thing in common, they are "charged" with finding, and creating, their *own* Wards of the State,
from which to be paid (steal the Estate)
If you *have*heard those stories, but have *not* YET personally ,been a target, or a family member of the victim, you can be forgiven for looking at us like we're crazy, when we awkwardly approach you, and your granddaughter at the grocery store.and try to warn you about what is most likey in your future.
You have family that cares what happens to you, and I care what happens to you.
and you will have done nothing wrong, but that knowledge will be of little comfort.

And you understand Every Word that is in your Estate Planning Document?, and the purpose for Each word being included in YOUR DOCUMENT?
I sincerely doubt it. And "letting your lawyer handle it" when the time comes is too naïve, and too dangerous to be your "plan".
