Pfizer has developed a pill than can track the patient and/or see if they are taking them

Definitely going to far. I do not want some pill tracking whether I've taken it. Next thing we know, "they" will come up with bladder trackers, food intake trackers, exercise trackers -- all neatly tucked inside our bodies via food, drink, and (I guess) muscle usage.

Sometimes, though, I think that medications ought to be tracked in hospitals to make sure the patient received the correct dose. I had a heart attack, years ago, and discovered the nurse had given me 10 times the dose of heparin I was supposed to have. Or so I was told. Heparin is a blood thinner to prevent the formation of blood clots. I had a clot the size of half my fist, which I discovered myself during a nose bleed.

Seems like a good idea to me. In the right circumstances. Patients that would require monitoring ,would have mental problems and most likely be under court supervision of some sort. I knew a cop that had a call to a disturbance and wound up in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. The perp was a prime condition football player who was required to take meds for his mental problems. As long as he took them he operated fine in society, but as he would feel better he would stop taking the meds and then find himself in increasingly more violent confrontational situations with the public at large. The last encounter he had physically over come a cop and was going for his service weapon. The result is the cop is in a wheel chair for the rest of his life due to spinal injuries, the perp also is paralyzed as the office wound up shooting him in self defense and others involved suffered injuries but not physically permanent ones.

Where it gets scary is insurance companies requiring these sort of things in order to pay for the patient's care. Step arounds are also possible like giving the tracking pill to another. If the pills look like the rest of the pills in the scrip and the patient isn't informed that they'e taking it, that's yet another can of worms. Could be good for testing experiments though.

Since I don't know much about it other than the one article I can see where it could be good, bad, or a combination of both.

“Managed health care” takes on new meaning with this drug and microchipping. If this trend continues, we'll soon lose control of our own bodies and all medical decisions will be made for us. We're halfway there already. Only after I'm cold and dead will they be able to implant a tracking pill or microchip in me. They'll be able to follow me around as much as they want. I won't be going far, lol.

No big deal really...and may be much appreciated by those who are prone to forget taking their meds.

This pill tracking is nothing compared to the smart phones everyone carries around with them 24/7 and tracks where you are, who you are, what you are saying, how you look, what you buy, what ailments you have, what you eat, etc.

You can be having a private conversation and all of a sudden an ad will come online. It happened with my daughter telling me about a specific brand of shoes she was interested in and all of a sudden an ad for them appeared on her screen.

I've even read a warning once not to take your phone into the bathroom with you or you'll be all over the internet😊. And the internet is connected to all your gadgets.

I know I'm not telling anyone anything new. It's just me putting this pill tracking in perspective.

even if the premise itself is false...the actual article does, indeed say that they ARE developing a pill with a sensor.

somebody, somewhere, is going to find an illegal use for that and use it to harm other people.

It's always a good idea to consider the source. Anybody can put almost anything on the internet. There is no one checking on content. I could call myself "The Mad Scientist of America Appreciation Society", and create an impressive website if I wanted to. I could claim to be a PHD Astrophysicist and put out all kinds of bum dope. Would you believe it?

Usually, when you see something like this, it only takes a few minutes with Google to find out if it's accurate.

The article does, but it's a lie. As Morgan wrote, the pill being referred to has been in use for several years and it is not a Pfizer product. Read the link.

Maybe you can describe how this could harm anyone. For the life of me, I can't.

This sort of BS really upsets me. So much turmoil today is caused by plain bald faced lies. Putin has convinced much of Russia that the Ukrainians are a bunch of Nazis. Politicians all over the world are pulling the same crap and getting away with it. If civilization is doomed, this will be the cause.

Unfortunately, many young women may soon lose control of their own bodies if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, but that was already discussed in another thread. Seems we as a society are getting ever closer to the "nanny state". :(

I can describe many ways in which this kind of tracking could be misused. I am not interested in giving anyone any ideas.

Let me see if I can think of something more minor as an example...but yes, plenty ways this could be abused.

Ok...here's one. Say it is a medical device. And some doctor has access to it. And he puts it in some medicine without the patient's approval...because he is stalking a female patient for a date.

Any tracking tech, like wiretaps, GPS devices...they all have a wide range of potential abuses and they all have been abused.

here's one article I found with a quick Google search:

GPS Monitoring Devices May Be Violating Fourth Amendment Rights

@JonSR77 You're comparing an ankle bracelet with a pill that has such a short range that it can only communicate with a patch worn by the patient. Help! Help! The sky is falling! Those evil drug companies are in cahoots with the secret powers that are trying to enslave us!

Or, maybe in addition to making a profit, they are actually trying to help people.

If you want to know the real facts on this, here is a link. Pfizer is not developing such a pill. This is a site trying to stir people up to get clicks and make money.
Thank you for investigating this. I figured it was outright false or highly exaggerated. If it were true it would have been all over the mainstream media rather some oddball website.
