Shame you got the rain.. but well, it is April I suppose....

Was it expensive there. I have a friend who lives in Oslo, and she's always saying how expensive everything is compared to Florida where she lives 6 months of the year

Yes, it certainly is expensive. I can only speak as a visitor, but I would recon that food, drink etc. is about 50% more than UK . Against that, it was relatively cheap to rent an apartment and rail travel was very reasonable. When it comes to alcohol over 4.7%, this can only be bought in a state run drinks store. Talking to them, I was told that 'everyday' drinks are expensive, but premium brands are often cheaper in Norway.

Other things that are obscenely expensive are sightseeing tours and souvenir goods. When the gigantic cruise ships come in, the shops round the harbour area must make a fortune.

The cost of our flights were certainly not 'budget', but for the convenience and quality of service, it was worth it. Overall, I would not be put off by the cost of a holiday in Norway, but I'd take a couple of bottles of wine with me.
