Photos of Photos

With strong possibility of many areas being evacuated because of fire, I decided this was the motivation of do something with all album and loose photos. It feels like there are millions. Years ago we had a professional company to digitize a few hundred.

Many are stuck behind those plastic sheets and I wanted to have some backup so I’m taking photos of these photos. I have a iPhone 12 Pro & and iPad Pro. I just can‘t hold them steady. Something is better than nothing.

Any ideas of a setup that might make these better. Any advice would be helpful.

I use a scanner to preserve photos. Years ago I tossed a bunch of albums of photos of my late wife and me. We had no children, so nobody would be interested in them.

If your (dinosaur) camera uses SD discs, keep all of your discs in a secure location away from home. As suggested you can scan them and store them on a DVD-R disc. Remember that no one outside of immediate family will have the interest that you have, especially if the people and places are unidentified and the pics are undated.

@meander All of these photos are pre-digital.

While I was looking at some videos for insurance purposes, I noticed another drawer full of old photos.

I intend to be ruthless with what I take a photo of.

I guess the trick is to be ruthless when they are taken, and save only the good ones. Today it is just the opposite....NO hard copies, only on devices.
