Picking a store

Often stores of the same chain will have a quite different inventory. The same is true of drug stores. Is this the norm in other places?
Yeah, chain stores monitor what's selling and what isn't. At one location cheese doodles are flying off the shelf, at another, they haven't sold one in year. So, they increase the number in the first store and get rid of them in the second.

I've developed a lifestyle where I rarely leave home for anything. I get most everything, including food, from Amazon. I use Cub Foods and InstaCart for any "fresh" groceries like milk, fruit, ice cream, etc. I use InstaCart for any alcohol deliveries. My Amazon Prime membership is my most valuable asset.

All my prescription medications are shipped to me, or delivered locally.

I rarely go outside of my apartment building for anything. I can order a lot of food from Amazon.com. I can also use Insta Cart or Amazon's Fresh delivery service. And I can treat myself by ordering a pizza delivery some times.

I think all you widowers should go out for your groceries unless it's physically painful. My father lived 14 years beyond my mother, and his, almost daily, trips to Big Bear or Kroger were what kept him happy. In the beginning he would need to ask one of the lady shoppers where something was or how to prepare something else, after a while I think he pretended not to know just so he'd have an excuse to start a conversation.

I read something back in the 90s about how since most people didn't have the opportunities for social contacts that people used to, like good gathering places, etc., that shopping and interacting with at least the store workers if not other shoppers would be about the only face-to-face social contact that people could avail themselves of from now on.

If you want one store, you might want to go with Publix or some other “normal” grocery store as opposed to some club-type store that is inconsistent in their offerings and/or only sells large quantities.

Publix is a very nice store, but yeah it is a little pricey but they still have their store brands that are not priced too high. When we visited Florida we shopped Publix and I was quite impressed. And the Publix sub sandwiches are fantastic!
Couldn’t agree with you more Michael. Publix is our main grocery store and the subs are fantastic. Cashiers and baggers are the norm.
