I went to the county show yesterday.. it was a glorious day, and it got a huge turnout, thousands of people there. Usual things there, livestock judging.. horse shows, lots of stalls selling various country clothing and items.. here's some pics..

One thing I did notice this year and that was that there were no gun sellers.. could be a few reasons for that.. but it seemed odd that they weren't there..

what were you showing *M* ? ..and did you show in this one in previous years, which as you might know is the biggest County show here in the south..

I always love your photos! That one guy in your photo (the beige one) was huge! I can't imagine leading him around. Of course, I love, love the horses. Just to spend the day around them would make my day.

Kat, you're so right, that Bull was bigger than I've ever seen..it was like a rhinoceros.

The horses were fab.. I timed it wrong so I missed most of the shows with them, and they weren't due to jump or show again for another couple of hours.. by which time I was gonna be at the other side of the fields, ...... or getting ready to leave.

Oh goodness yes...I'm sure... . My neighbour has horses... she is absolutely skint.. has to have old cars etc because every penny of her salary aside from bills goes to the horses.

Here's a pic I took at the Turriff show some years ago. It's one of the largest countryside and agriculture shows in Scotland. A colleague who had a horse for dressage explained the costs involved, not just money, but the effort he had to put in preparing the horse, travelling to shows etc..
