Pie crust and cake frosting

Pie crust…….LOVE it…….but mine only for the most part.
I use Cisco…..easy on the flour……use only ice cold water……roll out between sheets of wax paper……don’t over roll……remove one wax piece and lay into pie plate……super tender, flaky, so good.
If you want a sinfully delicious pie crust…..use real butter. 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋.

Icing…..not my favourite…..but if I do have or make…..whipped cream icing or cream cheese icing……but I just as soon have real whipped cream.

Do Americans not use the expression “that’s the icing on the cake”.
Icing and frosting are both used here, but really icing refers to more of a glaze-like covering, but thicker.
I could be wrong on this…….but……by checking recipes……icing and frosting are different from each other. 🧐.
Both Rose and Micka are correct, and Pam showed a pic of frosting. :) Even though the terms "frosting" and "icing" are used interchangeably, they are, in fact, different. I like both and make both. Which one I use depends on the type of cake I'm making. For example, when I make a layer cake, I'll frost it. When I make a flourless chocolate cake, I glaze it.

Martha Stewart explains and shows the difference for those who are interested. Take it away, Martha! 🥣

In Canada, most of us use the term icing to refer to what Americans call frosting. It’s generally thick and fluffy and made with icing sugar.
