Plastic, paper, or take your own bag(s)?

Yes and I have never got out of the habit of starting up a conversation with a total stranger here...even tho' people look at you like you're a mad axeman

I know! For the short time I lived in Herts I was unhappy with that since I had moved from a town in TN where you could talk to strangers. My sister will try to start a conversation with anybody, anywhere. When I shop with her she'll tell clerks 'this is my sister who lives in Scotland', like they would care.

Nice to have a choice. My nearest is 22 miles away, and Waitrose over fifty.

On the other hand, when I'm on my way to the bathroom first thing I sometimes see deer (wild) grazing in the field opposite, and if I forget to close my window at certain times of the year I get woken up by the geese passing overhead!

Swings and roundabouts.

Funny thing tho' Laurie is, I live in a tiny village the rural countryside..and I have a wood at the back of my house with muntjac, pheasants and and all sorts of wild life in it including badgers... and we often have a muntjac come into the garden , and as for geese we have a skein of geese fly over the house every morning and again the opposite way every evening...but yet we're only a short drive to the nearest market towns with all the big stores.. so I think I get the best of both worlds..

Laurie and Holly, I feel I've got the best of both worlds here as well. Out front is the loch, out back is a forest. Town is 10 miles away, although there is a tiny shop 2 miles away and another 5 miles. Serious shopping like clothing, DIY etc is an easy day trip to Glasgow, as well as the airport.
