He's lucky if one of the relatives isn't waiting for him after he is released. Anyone that did that to my niece would be safer in prison or the looney bin than on the street where I could get at him.
We had a fellow Officer years ago kill his girlfriend by mutilation after he tortured her for several days. He claimed short term psychosis. He was sent to a behavioral treatment facility for observation and found to be faking it. The judge sentenced him to life in a federal prison. No parole. For what he did to that girl, they should have hung him.
We need to end the insanity plea thing. The question at sentencing should be is the perpetrator likely to do it again if released. Statistics show released murderers are, rehabilitation cannot be guaranteed. So why let them out, ever?
