Plugged Left-Ear .... 'Swimmer's Ear'

Hello:
I got 'Plugged Ear' .... so called 'Swimmer's Ear' when I got out of bed this morning and continued to this afternoon.

Anyone has this issue?

How to 'Unclog' Plugged-Ear/Swimmer's ear?

Thanks for any suggestions/tips.

Years back, I went swimming and had that when I got home, but unlike other times, It wouldn't go away, so after a couple days, I went to a doctor. He looked in my ear and said my ear was all plugged up with wax. He got out his irrigation system and blew a ton of wax out of my ear. I had no idea an ear canal could hold that much. It was disgusting to look at, but he solved the problem. Other people I talked to have experienced this same thing, but people don't usually talk about it.

If we're taking bets on this, put me down for ten dollars that it's earwax.

I remember my father telling me he had a similar type episode, and went to a doctor. It wasn't ear wax. I think it was called sudden deafness. I can't remember what causes it, but the doctor told him if he waited any longer, he could have lost his hearing. As I recall, whatever they did to fix it was simple and pretty much a non event. But his hearing was restored.

I had it once also, and as Dave said, it's highly likely ear wax. A nurse can irrigate it for you, and most likely resolve the problem.

Could be built up ear wax on the outer side of the eardrum, or fluid on the inside, in the Eustachian tube. A decongestant might help, yawning-swallowing-chewing might help as well. For me, nothing helps, it just comes and goes when it wants to.

If you think it’s earwax, put in a few drops of slightly warmed olive oil or similar for a few days. It makes a big difference when they do the irrigation. My doctor insists upon it.

I bought one of these a year ago, and once you learn to use it, it works great. No more ear wax problem. Just use it about once every 10 days or so.

There's some good ear wax removal drops to be found in the pharmacy. The Spousal Equivalent uses them occasionally. Can't remember the name.
