Like the flu shot the pneumonia shot is highly recommended for folks over 65.....I can't be positive (CRS) but I think I recall getting a flu shot a few years back but I'm honestly not sure, hopefully the grocery store pharmacy where I normally get my flu shots will have a record.
Apparently there are two different types of pneumonia vaccine and it's recommended that a person get both but again if I remember correctly you're supposed to get them one year apart and in order;
First the PCV13 / Prevnar 13 vaccine and then second the PPSV23 / Pneumovax 23 vaccine.
I plan on getting my flu shot the week of Halloween like always and it is recommended that you wait at least two weeks in between the flu and pneumonia shots so I'm going by the pharmacy later this morning to try and determine which pneumonia shot I've already had (if any) and get one if my record shows that I need one.
I plan on getting one regardless but I assume that the pneumonia shot is covered / free under Medicare like the flu shot ?
Anyone else getting or had a pneumonia shot ?......did you get both vaccines ?
