Pole Light Cover is Filthy

I cleaned my pole light today. Ordinarily the plastic cap is nice and white and only needs a wipe with a damp cloth. I was amazed at the color of it when I looked closely. I've had it 4 years and it never looked so dirty. I soaked it in water, then scrubbed with an old toothbrush. That didn't help much - then I tried steel wool pad. This is as clean as I could get it. I wonder if the wildfire particulates have anything to do with it looking like this. Any suggestion how to get it looking better?

Plastic degrades as it ages. that may be as good as it will get.

There are spray paints that are designed to adhere to plastic...

Yes, that's what I'd do - just paint it. If you're using LED bulbs, they probably won't generate enough heat to damage the paint.

Here's a YouTube video featuring a plastic bowl, but hey, it's plastic.
The video offers lots of great ideas. If you go the dishwasher route, I'd only use the top drawer.
... but I don't think @debodun has a dishwasher anyway 🤷‍♂️
OH and while you might try alcohol, I wouldn't use the good whiskey ;)
