Police Cat In WI

One of my sisters used to "puppy raise" dogs for a service dog organization.

One of the other dogs in the puppy-graduation class for her dog was slated for training to be a "court dog", especially for children.

Say a child was going to have to testify in court (and often it was for sexual abuse cases), the dog was brought in to sit with the child at all times.....the child was introduced to the dog at the first meeting with attorneys and caseworkers and then was with the child every step of the way. The dog sat at the table or in the witness stand with the child, offering comfort and kisses as needed. Just the ability to hide their faces in the fur of a big fluffy Golden was a very calming effect.

I think we need more animals (dogs, cats, bunnies, etc.) in these kinds of situations. Everyone's blood pressure and stress goes down when petting an animal.
