Police insanity

This is unbelievable. I can't even wrap my head around this one.

It's around 10pm. A Platteville Colorado police officer pulls over a woman suspected of using a firearm in a road-rage situation. She pulls her truck over immediately after crossing a RR track. The cop stops his police van ON the tracks, and gets out and starts yelling out the usual orders.

More officers arrive, the woman is handcuffed and placed in the car on the tracks, and cops get distracted (I guess??) while searching her truck. None of the officers heard the train....or even thought about a train.

How could any police not know better than that? They are to protect and serve even when have just cause to arrest. They should know the basic traffic/vehicle safety protocols.

I saw this in the news; horrible.
Miraculously, the poor woman survived. She's got too many broken and shattered bones to count, plus broken teeth, and probably internal injuries that I haven't heard mentioned.

I got even angrier when I saw a child car-seat in her truck. If she was involved in that incident, then shame on her, but good lord, I can't believe no one thought to move that van after they put her in it.

It's crazy! I have to wonder - did they even notice the tracks??
Much more likely: The police knew exactly what they were doing - much like Derek Chauvin knew exactly what he was doing.
Much like many "parents" who leave their unwanted kids in hot cars also know what they were doing.
Difficult to prove intent vs accident.

The police heard the horn from the train, but it was too late for them to remove her from the cruiser. What kind of idiots park their car on a train track? Oh, wait. Don't answer.

The woman's lawyer will say she got railroaded by the Police.

A bit of karma perhaps? You pull a weapon in a road rage incident, then get shmucked by a train.
