Recently, political posts have been getting out of control, with some comments becoming really nasty and unnecessary.

To maintain a welcoming and respectful environment, we urge all members to report political posts rather than engage with them. Responding to political posts doesn't make it OK to post politics, it may make it much more difficult to clean up a thread.

What qualifies as politics?

For now, our focus is on American partisan politics. If your post makes it obvious that you’re leaning toward one side (Democrats or Republicans), it counts as politics.

What happens if you break the rules?
  • If you’re new here, you’ll likely get a warning first.
  • If you are a long-time member and well aware of the rules, but you still make political comments wherever you want - acting as if our no-politics rule doesn't exist, a straight permanent ban may be given without the 101th warning.

It's becoming increasingly difficult to keep this forum free of politics. Can we get through the next four years peacefully?

Please avoid discussing any politicians, or policies made by the current administration.

For example, you might start a thread about tariffs with good intentions, but you can’t control others from commenting things like “What a stupid policy” - or much worse.

If you see political posts, please report them instead of responding with hateful comments. Reacting that way is just as bad as starting the discussion in the first place.

That said, most members respect the rules. It’s always a few individuals who repeatedly violate the rules, or make very hateful and divisive comments.

Moving forward, I will issue permanent bans without much thinking, I apologize if I make irrational decisions, but the moderation drives me crazy. Maybe only small, peaceful forums can survive.

Seriously, what's the point of insisting on posting politics on a no-politics forum?
