Pomegranates

I bought one. Now, how do I eat it?

Do you eat the seeds? I think the last time I had one, about 60 years ago, we sucked on the seeds and spit them out as we walked home from school. Yuck.

Salad season is over so can’t sprinkle it on lettuce.

I did look up how to cut it open. It suggested putting on top of my oatmeal or yogurt, two things that I never eat.

My father bought some once when we were children. What a lot of hassle! No thanks. Ugh.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground when it comes to pomegranates. People either love 'em or hate 'em. I love the juice and occasionally drink a small glass on ice with a wedge of fresh lime squeezed in. It also makes a delicious substitute for cranberry juice in a Cosmopolitan.

We used to pick them off an old man's tree on the way home from the bus stop(58 yr.s ago). We threw them at each other mostly. Just kinda gnawed the red stuff of the seeds and spit them out(at each other!).

Sure, they're tasty, if somebody else extracts the juice, etc. But the cutting and all that rigmarole seemed like some kind of punishment, not a treat.
Well, I don't extract my own pomegranate juice even though I have a juicer. It would take a lot of pomegranates to get a decent amount of juice. I just buy pomegranate juice. I've never felt punished when opening a pomegranate. It's easy when you know how. :) I'll eat your share. ;)

Never have bought one, never have tasted one. I was surprised to see a big bin of them yesterday at Walmart. I don't think our neighborhood has a clue. I might buy one to check it out when they get marked down. They were asking $2.48 for one.
