Oy that at least in Newark they confine it to alley's and parks. All the more need for accessible restrooms and needle exchange programs, especially for the homeless.

In theory needle exchange programs should help but in San Francisco an "exchange" is not required to get a syringe/needle. Which means junkies don't have to clean up with the simple basic act of properly throwing away their trash. Some say too much focus is on the new needle and not enough emphasis on the old one.

Ugh. Used to drive my son and DIL in to the City every day for schools about 13 years ago. In the worst area of San Francisco, which was why I drove them and dropped them off. Lots of poop on the sidewalks even back then. Got a "Save The Date" from my niece the other day-she lives in San Francisco-for my sister`s 50th wedding anniversary coming up in April. Talking to my eldest sister yesterday on the phone and neither of us is looking forward to having to go to the City. The parking alone is a killer. Hopefully it is going to be held someplace outside the City. But if not,we`ll figure out a way to avoid the worst of it I guess.
