Tropicana is the only brand mentioned that I have bought in the past, usually buy 'not from concentrate' so there's not too many brands to choose from. Been buying Florida Natural lately, usually under $3 at Walmart, the price of orange juice has skyrocketed lately. Luckily I don't drink much of it, I use it to mix my supplements in the morning, can't remember when I drank a full glass. More info and brands here.

In 2015 the USDA reported orange juice was the most consumed fruit juice in the United States and oranges were second most consumed fruit overall, just slightly behind apples. The average person in America consumes 2.7 gallons of orange juice and 3 pounds of oranges each year. “100% Pure Orange Juice” is a common claim used by many juice brands that allow consumers to feel safe when serving it to their families on a daily basis.

However, recent testing revealed that every one of the five top orange juice brands Moms Across America sent to an accredited lab tested positive for glyphosate weed killer. Glyphosate is the declared active chemical ingredient in Roundup, manufactured by Monsanto, and 750 other brands of glyphosate-based herbicides. Roundup is the most widely used herbicide in the world, often sprayed as a weedkiller between citrus trees, found in irrigation water and rain.


Moms Across America founder Zen Honeycutt stated, "The discovery of glyphosate residue in orange juice is unacceptable, especially since a branch of the World Health Organization designated glyphosate a probable carcinogen, two years ago, back in the spring of 2015.

The EPA has had ample time to revoke the license of this chemical and restrict its use in our food and beverage crops. As confirmed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, our children (who frequently drink orange juice for breakfast) are especially vulnerable to pesticides and measures should be taken immediately to protect them."

I drink a small glass of OJ every morning...been doing that for years. I almost always buy a brand called Old Orchard, in frozen concentrate, from Walmart. Old Orchard is made in Michigan, but who knows where they get their oranges.

Insofar as Glyphosate is concerned, I always have some on hand...and use it to kill the weeds in my gravel driveway...it works great, and quick. However, I would NEVER think of using that in my garden. I buy a 2.5 gallon of 40% concentrate from the local farm store....costs about $40 a jug...the same amount of Super Concentrate at Walmart/Lowe's/Menard's under the Roundup brand would be over $250.
 
I don't use any weed killers in my yard, dangerous for the pets, prefer to avoid chemicals if I can. They say that 100% of wined from California have this weed killer in them. I think way too many of the foods we eat and drink are loaded with chemicals and hormones, and I think that's the reason for a lot of cancers and other conditions these days. I would be great if all these companies went organic, you think they would have learned by now that it's healthier for people and animals....but unfortunately, not as profitable for them. :dollar:

If they ever outlaw Roundup, without something to replace it, we may be in a mess. Food may become more expensive. Good news is, it might create a lot of low paying summer jobs, pulling weeds or tending goats and sheep. Too bad we can't all get along without food. Same problem with insecticides.

I think many of our produce have weed killer in it. I guess I haven't thought about it much but it makes me want to go Organic. I can't find any organic produce where I live but a couple of new grocery stores are going to be opening up in my area soon and I hope they will have organic produce.
 
We live in an area of major farms and poultry farms. The farmers spray their fields heavily with various chemicals...including this generic Roundup...when they are spraying, we can smell it if we drive by. The poultry farms..both chicken and turkey, feed the birds large amounts of steroids and growth hormones....they take a turkey chick from birth to market ready in about 11 or 12 weeks....nature would take 8 or 9 months. Virtually everything a person buys in the grocery store has been "chemically" altered. I am convinced that these growth hormones in all our meat and poultry products are a primary reason for much of the Obesity epidemic. Life expectancy continues to rise....but so too do many major and lingering illnesses...I wonder how many of our health problems are related to some of the food we eat. Some of the major urban areas have "organic" grocers...but the price is probably quite high...and I question just how "organic" many of their items really are.

I buy some things organic when I can. All the big supermarkets have an organic produce section now, but the prices are much higher and the produce isn't necessarily fresher or that much of a variety. Even in the aisles of other food, there's usually an organic option. Just wish they all went organic, that way with competition the prices might come down.

I only buy the organic version of certain things while others haven't been deemed a problem. I check the Dirty Dozen list every year and follow it closely. I haven't bought a non-organic egg in years except for a friend's free pasture eggs; I figure everything a hen eats will find its way into her eggs. No thanks. I don't eat non-organic berries; like a scientist friend said, there's no way to wash pesticide residue off a strawberry. I only eat organic root crops and citrus fruits.

Some things are okay non-organic, but they mostly seem to have thick, almost impenetrable skins, like avocados and bananas.

I eat a small amount of meat, grass-fed only beef and organic chicken and pork.
