Postcards…did ‘ya send ‘em? Do you still?

My ex husband served on an aircraft carrier too... in the 70's..HMS Hermes...
Hubby was on Ranger and Coral Sea. One time they had a family day and we got to get a tour of ship and they took us out. Really interesting but glad I didn’t have to sleep in such small quarters.

My husband was in the Royal navy..the Hermes was a war ship as well as an aircraft carrier, which also carried Sea King Helicopters..

My husband was the Captains first officer so with his permission we were allowed to have our baby Christened on Board by the Ships' Padre.

The Captain and Prince Charles were great friends.. and on the day our daughter was Christened in the ships Chapel deep in the bowels of the ship...unbeknown to us the Captain had informed Prince Charles and The Queen mother who was visiting the previous day, that our Christening was happening.. and during the ceremony, a gift box was sent down to us. When we opened it , it was pair of Exquisite Christening Candles with a note inside Signed, HM Elizabeth R, Queen mother, and HRH Prince Charles...

My mother-in-law was over the moon... :D

Oh My Goodness!! That was so amazing. What a day that must have been. That’s really special . Something to hold on to. 😊 It’s not easy being a military wife. Glad the Captain made it all happen.

I found that the grands, especially the young ones just learning to read, love to get a personal post card. Especially one with grandpa looking silly.

Yes I can understand that.

Same reason I send them each a Christmas card, even though I no longer do to anyone else.
