Powerball, $1200mill or $1.2bill, which is bigger

Vending machine gave me problems 10/31/22 so I was unable to buy a ticket. Whomever runs the vending machine change the procedure in buying a ticket which meant a couple of extra steps that got me frustrated. Eventually I bought a scratch off, $1, and lucky I did too...Since I did not play Powerball and no one won, I can get another opportunity to waste $1.
YMMV

I wouldn't tell anyone but they would guess because my lifestyle sure would change in a hurry.
In 1974, my cousin won one of the first Rhode Island lotteries- $50, 000 ( about $300,000 today) They did the whole big cardboard check thing in front of news cameras. They didn't realize their new home was listed in the phonebook. It was hell. At 4AM, people would be knocking on their door, dragging a sick kid with them, and pleading for money. And they weren't happy when they didn't get wads of cash. They had to call the cops several times. . They had a hard time about people finding out their new phone number, no matter how many times they changed it. That went on for well over a year

I'm gonna wait until weekend drawing to buy a ticket, assuming no body wins tonight. PV calculation puts the lump sum pay out at a little less than $600k, and pay a third to taxes, and you net approx $400k. I need to net enough to pay off my Visa AND my American Express...

I "waste" 2 or 3 dollars a week on the lottery tickets....never win anything other than a free ticket. At least most of the profits here go to the State education funds, so that helps keep property taxes reasonable.
