Precious Time

When we get into our senior years, with one foot in
the grave and the other on a bar of wet soap, we all
want to make every minute count.

Then you come home from shopping and there is an
Email from several shops that you visited, asking for
your shopping experience, you might win 1,000 points
on your loyalty card, you might win £500, you might
win a thatched cottage that you will be entered for
when you complete our survey, etc., etc., etc.

Almost every large shop here who know your Email
address, send out such a message, OK, maybe not
the actual company, but some survey company who
are contracted by the shop to find out what we think
about their service, they used to use hidden shoppers,
but this must be cheaper.

Do you get the same nonsense?

I never answer, even if I do like the thatched cottage!

The only one that annoys me is the one associated with my eye doctor.

Within an hour or two after my annual appointment I get an email selling vitamins formulated specifically for macular degeneration.

IMO it’s very poor form for a medical professional to release any information to a third party especially for the purpose of making money.

It wouldn’t bother me if the doctor made a recommendation or shared her professional opinion with me during my office visit.

Every place wants to know my opinion - seriously they don’t want to know what I’m muttering about them after I get a follow up survey, especially if they remind me I forgot to reply to their first request.

The survey is only designed to make the survey companies money. Somehow they feel the longer the better.

If companies really wanted honest opinions, they should provide a comment section at the end and the companies would insist they see that, no matter how positive or negative.

The best survey I answered was eight questions - all of them logical.

I don't apply for store credit cards or give stores any personal information except for what they get from my credit card. Online shopping is different, since I have to register. Rarely do they remove me from their email list when I jump through the hoops required. So many are on the junk mail list and I delete them with one click.
