Prep time on recipes

I often bake something for our bridge club. Today it was rhubarb sour cream cake. Recipe said prep time was 10 minutes. Who are they kidding? Maybe that’s just assembly time but even that is way off. It doesn’t account for all the measuring of a dozen different wet and dry ingredients. And it definitely doesn’t account for me seriously underestimating how much sour cream on hand and the resulting trip to Aldi. LOL! So I never believe the prep times.

I agree. I usually find prep times to be way off. Either they don't time it and/or they want you to think the recipe is quick and easy to prepare... or they're trying to sell you on making it... or maybe they have kitchen elves on amphetamines doing the prep for them, lol.

Yep, I always get sucked into a recipe that sounds good. Then I am in there an hour prepping, I am slow at it. On the other hand that looks sooooooo good!!
