Presidential vacations and golf rounds

Many presidents have taken vacations and played golf, I don't see anything wrong with it. The job they've taken on is very stressful, and even on vacation they are not isolated from the serious matters surrounding them which demand their attention, vacation or not.

I agree but when folks use it as a talking point, it's time to roll out the numbers!

Bush and Obama might as well spend their time on vacation and golfing, etc. Their performance in Washington will not rank either of them very high when the history books are written.

I disagree... President Obama will go down in history as one of our greatest presidents... In spite of vengeful obstruction and plans to make him fail at the cost of our country... He has done pretty well...

I agree and to even mention Bush in the same sentence as the President should be illegal! The President will be looked upon in history as a man who in spite of the racial bias did a good job.

I don't know why some keep saying it is racial bias that points at Obama. It is Obama's way of ignoring the Congress that he should have been working with for the last 6 years that has caused a lot of unhappiness about the fairness and honesty of his government. His lack of budgets and the extreme debt he has put the US into is really a terrible thing to do to the US. Whomever wins the next election and for many long years ahead, will have a hard time trying to pay down our debts and still keep the US working properly.

I expect we'll pay the debt down pretty quick; we've lots of money. We've always got money for another war.

I never kept saying that it is racial bias that points at President Obama, but honestly, after listening to conservative far-right talk shows for the last 6 years or so, and hearing what the hosts and all their callers have to say, there's no other way to take it.

Republicans were dead set on working against the President since day one, they wanted to work against him on everything and make him a one-term President, and they made no attempt to hide that fact. They didn't care that the American people had voted him in (twice), because their main concern is their agenda and not the citizens of the United States.

The economy was down the toilet when he took over, and many things have improved since he became President. That's a big accomplishment for him, since he had (and continues to have) so much resistance from the right.

Not everyone will admit or give him credit for his accomplishments, and I acknowledge that, of course. I don't care to change anyone's opinion, but prefer to see things as they really are.

This National Debt is the 800lb. gorilla lurking in the corner. This debt is quickly getting out of control...and is the primary reason why the Fed is holding interest rates at nearly Zero...which makes any private savings in the bank almost worthless, in terms of any Interest earned. This year the government will have to squander over 220 billion taxpayer dollars just to pay the interest, and it is expected that the interest on this debt will triple in another 10 years. That will make the Interest the second highest outlay...second only to Medicare, and probably surpassing the Defense Budget. Washington has been playing "Russian Roulette" with this nations finances for the past 15 years...the last time we even approached a balanced budget was way back in the Clinton years.

If the Fed were to allow the Fed Funds rate to climb to a more normal 4 or 5%, this nation, and our economy would be SKREWED...and Washington would have little choice but to devalue the dollar...as other nations have had to do when they got themselves into a similar situation....the most recent being Argentina. While such a move might relieve the pressure on our government, it would destroy the net worth of the average citizen.
