Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays used to be two separate observances - February 11 and 22, respectively. In the early 1970s, the two were combined into one Federal holiday - Presidents' Day, observed on the third Monday in February. Of course many retail establishments use this and an excuse to have "sales".
