Project Gutenberg is an online library of free eBooks.

Project Gutenberg was the first provider of free electronic books, or eBooks. Michael Hart, founder of Project Gutenberg, invented eBooks in 1971 and his memory continues to inspire the creation of eBooks and related content today.

You can sort/search different ways, and download in a variety of formats, including plain text. This is a list of the most popular downloads:

Thanks for those reminders, both of you.:geek:

I've read several books on the Project Gutenberg site, bless them. It's a great chance to read books that are no longer being published and the library has sold at their annual book sales for fifty cents. Not knowing I would have paid a hundred dollars for them if they had only asked me!

The only problem is that I have to sit up at the computer desk to read these books while my preferred reading position is stretched out on the sofa. A problem I could fix with a laptop I expect.

I volunteered at Project Gutenberg and typed up parts of books for them, none of them memorable. More than 15 years ago it was.
