Puppy scammers hoping Holiday buyers are stupid

At Walmart the cashier was telling me she wanted to get her daughter a pure bred puppy
for Christmas and checked some sites and called this one.
The man told her about the puppy's supposed blood lines and text a pic to her.
He then told her the price and she asked where she needed to come to get the puppy.
He said no we will bring it to you after we receive the payment.
She asked how to pay him.
He asked for gift cards be sent.

She said she laughed and told him ok, you wait for them and let me know when you are leaving.

There was a lot more detail in her story but I don't remember it all.

I think the guy needs to go to scammer school if he intends to make a living from this.
 

I would never pay for anything like that without seeing it first and , in case of dogs, checking the person is a legitimate breeder if buying from a breeder.

we did pay a deposit for our dog before getting her - but we found her on a well known website and checked first that the owner was a registered breeder

I think the cashier realized it right away. I was just putting it out there for a head's up kind of thing if you know of anyone
thinking about getting one.
 

This is a very good advice... it's the advice my daughter gives out every year... she not only had her own Doggie & cat hotel & kennels for 14 years .. but she's also a City & Guilds dog groomer ( altho' that's not her full time job )... she's always giving out warnings about being careful with regard to buying puppies in particualr as gifts at Christmas


OTOH.. GIFT Cards are a big thing now with scammers in the way of payment for anything..

Scammers want gift cards becase they're untraceable , act as instant cash , and can't be recovered once spent.. they can quickly spend the balance online or sell the funds, leaving a minimal paper trail and making it nearly impossible for the victim to get their money back.
Unlike a bank transfer or credit card payment, there is no name or account tied to a gift card, making it difficult for law enforcement to trace the funds back to the scammer. ...so be very wary if asked by anyone to pay using gift cards

The other animals find us. My wife and I got a cat this way (she died 6 years ago) and if it shall be we'll get a cat or a dog again..
