Purim time Jewish tradition

I remember reading about Purim, and many other Jewish celebrations, in the book All-of-a-Kind Family, one of my favorite books as a young child (https://www.amazon.com/All-Kind-Fam...741822229&sprefix=all+of+a+kin,aps,175&sr=8-2). It was interesting and heartwarming, and I learned a lot about Judaism, and life in Brooklyn at the turn of the century. Come to think of it, I'm going to track down a copy for my grandchildren when they get old enough to read.

My favorite Purim tradition is eating hamantaschen - triangular shaped pastries, filled with fruit preserves, raisins, nuts, poppy seeds, or chocolate. The triangle shape represents Haman’s three sided hat.

Good! I ate one yesterday. Bakery does not know what they are called.

But I wonder about the names Haman the evil villain and the terrorist group Hamas. Is the name just a coincidence? I think not?

Interesting; that hadn't occurred to me. I'll have to do some online searching.
