Purple Potatoes

Can you imagine going to McDonalds for purple french fries.....and even more imagination to get the kids to eat them.....maybe with the promise of a happy meal and toy.

I sometimes buy them or purple carrots. I’ve never experienced any difference in taste. They just look more exotic for a meal for company. My preference is German Butter potatoes or similar.

The skin (my favorite part of baked potatoes) was very bitter and now I have a headache.
How are you feeling now? From googling it sounds like there is no treatment and that it can take a few days to recover from green potato poisoning, and that sometimes people have to be hospitalized, tho thankfully the info I read said death is rare.

Maybe you should contact your doctor office just in case?

Headache not so bad now, but I've had some acid reflux. Has to be the potatoes - I didn't eat anything else for lunch. I've eaten 2 large baked potatoes before without a problem, but they weren't purple ones.

I bought some at a vegetable stand near my place last year because that's all they had. Had no ill effects after eating them but the texture and taste was 'off' compared to normal spuds, and the visuals even after cooking were kind of creepy. Won't be buying them again.

I ate purple potatoes years ago. Don't remember any ill effects.

However, that is interesting about their color masking the green. I'd avoid them then since I know not to eat green potatoes.
