Pushed out of Covid funeral

My father in laws funeral is coming up soon. Only 15 allowed in the Chapel and 15 outside. While I will be inside with my husband my daughter is upset that she has to be outside. She isn't a blood grandchild but spent more time with her step grandad, who she loved, than his own blood grandchildren who rarely visited but are included. She is very upset by this as am I. I understand its difficult for those organising any funeral in todays climate. Am I wrong to feel sad by this?
 

No one can tell anyone else if it is wrong to be sad about something. Having said that you are not wrong. Anytime one of my children is upset, I am upset. I would comfort your daughter by reminding her she did spend all that time with him while he was alive.

And remind her that he will always be alive in her memories and her heart. Then I would tape what happens inside so she could see it.
 
Is there anyone of the 15 being allowed inside except for you and your husband who would be willing to exchange places with your daughter because of her special relationship with her step granddad? Of course you’re not wrong to feel sad about it. Maybe one of the less involved grandchildren could switch with her?

I think it is very, very wrong that your daughter must stand outside. It's wrong to hurt a child's feelings that way. Given that, I'm lost on how to advise you. Sorry. More sorry for your daughter's feelings.

Since he's your father in law...are you close to him or would you want to switch places with her yourself? Just a suggestion.

I'm assuming everyone inside the chapel will be wearing masks. Well, if masks offered protection, why would they allow only 15 people inside & 15 outside?
