Putting The Pillow Issue To Bed

Hello,

I used my new "My Pillow" for a short time on Christmas night, was dissatisfied with it and went back to my old pillow.

Bit since then, I've had 2 good nights of sleep with it. I've learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Pillow!

My 3-step solution:

Place Head on Pillow,
Shut Up,
Get to Sleep.

Cheers,
HiDesertHal

I know you'd like to believe that, TMS and Falcon, but to be honest, my wife stays up an hour or two beyond my bedtime, and she sleeps in a different bedroom, across the hall and behind 2 closed doors. She doesn't kiss me awake until 6:20 every morning, and then I tell her how I slept!

I gave those instructions to myself!

Hal

I have a really hard time with pillows. Out of 10 I may find one, maybe two, I can actually use. In fact, most recently, I discovered wife had one that suited me just fine, I bought her new ones online and now the one she had that suited me is now mine :love_heart:. Hey, I didn't just take it, ordered her new ones, waited for them to arrive, then took the one that should have been mine from the get go :).

I got a My Pillow a few weeks ago from a store. I really liked it. It felt very comfortable except it felt a bit too high and eventually I would wake up with a stiff neck even though I'm a side sleeper. I went on to the My Pillow website and discovered that there a several levels of loft (filling amount) and by taking a quiz I found out my best filling level was Yellow--the least filled (the ones in the store are usually Middle filled (white). That made sense to me--I like having my head close to the mattress top.

But I really wasn't going to buy another pillow at those prices, so I'm going to take out some of stitches on one end, large enough to get my hand in to pull out some of the filling, pinning the opening closed and testing it out. When it feels right, I'll sew it back up, but keeping the extracted filling just in case.

I'm a side sleeper, but my favorite pillows are overstuffed down and are fat enough to hold my head even with my spine. I haven't found any other pillow filling that has the same combination of softness and firmness as real down. I wait until my favorite seller has a pillow sale and then I pounce.

Several similar pillows (with the shredded foam) have zippers where you can remove as much of the fill as you like. I bought a couple and removed enough for a couple of more pillows... they purposely ship them overfilled so you will have enough. I got mine on Amazon.

Smiling Jane, my Mom always used down pillows, too. I did not like them because they got too flat while I was sleeping, but I sure did like the feel of them. I had not heard of overstuffed down pillows and bet these would be just what I want. Would you mind sharing the name of the pillow and the name and location of your seller so I can take a look at them. You can private message me if you prefer. I hope you will. Thanks.

Question about Pillow

This is the one I like, Paloma. I admit to coveting the 1000 down fill pillow on this site, but it's simply too much money. The overfilled pillows don't go flat until they're worn out, which takes quite some time. I've thought about buying down and making my own overstuffed pillows; that would be cheaper.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. Have you ever tried the gusseted pillow? Also, do you know what month(s) they usually have their sales in?

I found that all of the premium pillows are a rip-off, where I was concerned. None of them ever did me any good, at all. One day, in a department store, I found a medium firm pillow for $7.99 That model pillow gave me countless hours of decent sleep. Every two to three years I've changed it out. So far, I've been lucky that the near-exact same pillow has been available for the last twelve years, or so.
