That's an excellent point."Taxing" might be one way to get some peoples attention, but most who get the virus would probably not have much money, to begin with...much less be able to afford more taxes.
This sounds like just another government "feel good" idea that would accomplish very little.
it sells well with those who want to give shots by force... but in reality it is hoping people worried about having to PAY roll up their sleeves"Taxing" might be one way to get some peoples attention, but most who get the virus would probably not have much money, to begin with...much less be able to afford more taxes.

Lack of motivation is not why some people decide against being vaccinated. True, some do take the bait, but for a huge majority of those people, abstinence had nothing to do with a lack of motivation; they just decided to throw caution to the wind for the $100 gift card or whatever. That's a good tactic to motivate people to get vaccinated. Negative reinforcement is an effective way to modify people's behavior when they're not acting in the best interest of society, just like the threat of fines for speeding or prison for stealing.
The unvaccinated are costing us a lot of money, or they would if we didn't just add everything to the national debt like the wars. Eventually, the chickens will come home to roost. When that day comes, all hell is going to break loose.
I'm pretty sure Quebec doesn't engage in that kind of reckless and destructive behavior, and they probably want to actually pay their bills.
Mostly agree, but I think some of the driver behind the tobacco tax is the governments just see it as easy money.A lot of US states tax tobacco products for the same reason. But they don't tax food for over-eaters, or sugar for diabetics, etc. They cherry-pick their villains. That's not good healthcare cost management. It's unjust. But I suppose it's way easier than over-hauling a poorly managed healthcare system.
Well, a Vax-Tax would go to the gov't, so I don't understand what's different.Mostly agree, but I think some of the driver behind the tobacco tax is the governments just see it as easy money.
I just meant that I believe a lot of the reason we have high tobacco tax has nothing to do with health. Maybe the same with Quebec's Vax-Tax I don't know.Well, a Vax-Tax would go to the gov't, so I don't understand what's different.
