Hi!
Just heard of Aleppo pine...

And since you are the wood craftsman..

What do you think of it?๐Ÿค”
Worked with it?

๐Ÿค—

Heard about it on a Christian talk show..and doing further research...in ancient times..used in making boats.

Thanks for your reply.๐Ÿ˜‰

Sorry @Hopeful1 I missed this post

What is your opinion on cedar vs treated wood for fences?

Treated fence posts
4x4x8' pressure treated at Home Depot for about $10.
Treated 2x4s for cross pieces (rails)

Two foot hole with a couple inches of small round rock at the base has always worked for me
Round rock doesn't knit, allows drainage

Our soil is hard clay
Hard clay takes some tenacious work with a post hole digger
Might consider using a sledge hammer and a large/long chisel

Square it up with a couple 2xs
Pour rock/concrete premix around edges
Tamp it down
Let it set up

Cedar for fence boards
1x6x6' at HD for $4
Use deck screws (not nails)
Deck screws do not rust/stain/bleed
Cedar is also very good with all stains

These are my recommendations

Rather puzzling

I may bug Matrix for this little issue

Another...
Black cherry-wood vs. cherry -wood.
'Heard'..there ARE differences.

What do you think/say? Ever use either?

I know it's good for smoking meats
But would be quite a waste
Another expensive wood
Not familiar with any differences
Ever use either?
In high school shop I made a pretty gorgeous coffee table out of cherry wood
Great natural pattern

That was back in the day when sharp corners were in vogue

Wiped out many a shin
