Did you notice a change in the way RMD and other IRA distributions are reported for 2024? Or the questionairre itself? When I answered the question about IRA distributions, I got a prompt that said "Your return doesn't include any covered distributions. You do not need to answer any further distribution questions". Yet in another part of the questionnaire, there was a question about distributions received and those during a "correction period". When I entered my RMD ($37 more than required), the amount I owe jumped an extra $178 dollars due to an "overage".

I realized that I must've answered one of the questions wrong, so I went back and figured it out. I found the questions in that area to be confusing. I've never had that issue in the 5 years I've entered my RMD amounts. It also did not ask about RMD qualified charitable deductions, like in the years past. However, after all of that, the form shows that I do not owe any tax on my IRA distributions and the amount I owe was corrected.

I've been using H & R Block for at least a decade and I'm wondering if Turbo Tax's questionnaire has similar questions for 2024 and if that is a change from previous years.
