Question for tea drinkers

I should drink more tea. Only drank tea regularly in England. I tend not to drink it because I buy such incredible coffee. Another is I use sugar in tea, and that's not a good idea for me.

Most often I make a cup at a time in the microwave for two minutes. When my brother comes over I’ll heat water in an electric kettle that gets very hot and then steep it 5 minutes in a ceramic tea pot. I use tea bags either way and prefer PG Tips.

I drink my tea with a splash of milk and an almost undetectable trace of sugar.

Meant to add I almost only drink tea at home and only get coffee out. Hard to get hot enough water for tea when we’re out and I don’t like the coffee I make myself. But I just get a medium roast black when I do get coffee.

Occasionally, I'll try different teas to find one I like. I have the same problem - needing a lot of sugar to drink tea, while only needing 1/2 tsp. sugar in my coffee.

My wife is the tea drinker, although I have an occasional cup. Our cups are the two layer glass kind with an insulating air gap between layers. Works fine to keep tea or coffee hot, but sometimes in the washing process a drop or two of water can get trapped between layers. Put that cup in a microwave and it would explode. (-8

I only drink iced tea and buy it in a liquid concentrate. So I mix it 50/50 with water to make 2 qts.,then fill the rest of the gallon pitcher with a premade green tea that is blueberry flavored. I don`t like sweet drinks,so no sugar added.

JEEEZ, its no wonder Americans have a rep for making crappy tea. Boiling hot water, rinse cup to get it hot, pour hot water over tea bag. Let steep for 4 minutes, dunk bag a couple of times, then squish it with a spoon to get the remains of the tea into the cup/mug. Savor. I shiver when I see a waitress use the hot water tap to fill a tea pot. JimB.

Never, always the boil water in kettle and only Tetley with the occasional herbal.
Red Rose sells more tea in Newfoundland and Labrador than in the rest of Canada, combined. Old habits die hard, my son. One of my former work mates was a "Bay Man " and he made tea so strong the spoon would stand up in it. Four tea bags in one mug, I tells yah. His favorite breakfast was 4 eggs sunny side up, fried Maple Leaf sliced baloney, fried sliced potatoes and five mugs of tea, followed up with 3 Players navy cut plain smokes. Then he was "ready to get at it for the day ". JimB.

In my mind, I have a kettle, one of those pretty little silver tea holders for loose leaf. I would pour the hot water in a sweet ceramic tea pot with that little holder, make real tea. Serve in a china cup.

In reality, I grab a mug, fill it with water, microwave a couple of minutes. Drop in a tea bag. Let it go a couple of minutes, add half and half and sugar. Not the way I dream about but gets the job done.

I always heat the water in a small saucepan on the stove, then add the teabag and steep for a couple of minutes, jump it up and down in the pan, and then squish the last bits of tea out of the bag with the spoon, and pour the tea into my tea mug. I really like the English Breakfast tea, but I also like Constant Comment mint, and the spice one, and sometimes just plain Lipton tea.

I have tried some of the herb teas, but do not like them as well as regular tea. Sometimes I add sweetener and lemon, and sometimes sweetener and milk, it just depends on what kind of tea and what I want it to taste like.
