Question for those of you who live with someone

Who locks up at night?

It’s just Ron and me, and typically it’s whoever goes to bed last. Most often that’s me. Ron gets up much earlier (4.30-5) compared to me (6-6.30) and he has a very physical job (construction) so understandably he tends to wipe out earlier.

But because it’s more often me, my question of “honey did you lock up?” when he comes to bed is sometimes met with a flurry of covers thrown back and him charging out of the room (naked I might add! ) to tend to business!

What about you?

Me. I like to keep the doors locked all day and night. I go lock them whenever I see them unlocked. Doesn't bother Michelle because the front door unlocks automatically when you open it from inside, and we don't use the back door much.

I lock up at night, I'm the one who puts on the front porch light and lets in the dog from the back yard after his last peewee.

When I was married, we usually locked up everything long before bed. But I'd check anyway.
If Ron "charges out of the room naked," you're supposed to tend to other business.

The Spousal Equivalent always locks up tight before he goes to bed. I go to bed much later. If I have taken my midnight walk or have toddled down to the mailbox at 2 a.m., I make sure I lock up when I come back.

We keep the doors locked at all times. After all, it isn't much effort to unlock them when we want to go out.

Whomever goes to bed last checks to see that the doors are definitely locked.

The doors are always locked. He usually sets the alarm system because it’s beside the water cooler. He refills his glass at bedtime.

That old Navy training from when I was a young sailor standing security watches just engrained a virtual compulsion to conduct a regulation lockup every night.
