We are constantly bombarded with TV ads for drugs that often do little other than make the drug companies rich. Now, it appears that the FDA has given initial approval to a drug for treating Alzheimer's with little or no evidence that it does any good. However, it is expected to cost around $56K a year, and will contribute nicely to the profits of Biogen investors and executives, and hasten the day when Medicare goes broke.

Another fine example of these TV ads and scams are the frequent commercials for Cologuard. These tests are, at best, only about 40% accurate, and often can result in the "participant" receiving a large bill, and/or an incorrect diagnosis. Far better for a person to schedule a colonoscopy and get the proper results, the first time.

Our "for profit" health care system is doing a great disservice to our people, and causing as many Problems as Cures. In the US, we pay twice as much for health care as most other nations, and yet, rank way down the list in terms of overall results.
