This came to mind because of the two limited series shows Miriam Margoyles has done about mostly Australia tho she did visit New Zealand and Tasmania too. Saw the them on Netflix--the first was Almost Australian, the second Australia Unmasked. Apparently she and her longtime partner moved there a decade ago. Most people if they know of her it is because of her role in the Harry Potter movies.
I'm wondering i any of you from those countries have watched them and what you thought about them? Not professional type documentaries, but more like a video scrapbook if her jaunts and conversations. I found them interesting but can't help wondering how people born and raised there felt about this immigrant's perception of their nation.
Couldn't help thinking th Australia Unmasked one.might not sit well with everyone there. She addresses the concept of "a fair go" for all and asks people of varied backgrounds if they feel they've had a fair go and do they think everyone has?
Also if anyone lives in an area anywhere in world that has a certain image in fiction tv/movies or you've seen documentaries about your 'home' town, how accurate or exaggerated were either the fiction or non fiction depictions?
