Quinoa

I bought a package of red quinoa. I tried it last night and found it similar to Wheatena cereal, although a bit more coarse. I wanted to know if I took some of the grains and put them in soil, would they sprout? Would they have to be soaked beforehand?

Are you sure you cooked it properly? Cooked quinoa is very light and fluffy, with little "tails". It looks sprouted when fully cooked.

It should be rinsed before cooking. try Google for growing questions.

I followed the package directions - 2 parts water for every part of quinoa, boil for 12 minutes, the let stand for 15 minutes. It did look "sprouted".

It should be rinsed before cooking.

The package said it has been rinsed. The brand is Bob's Red Mill.
