R.I.P. Arnold Palmer....

Golf has lost its premier "gentleman" today, a truly charming man and a shining example of good sportsmanship.

I was lucky on three occasions to meet Mr. Palmer and his lovely late wife Winnie at charitable events and actually got to tell him an "Arnold Palmer" joke. He laughed and gave me a side-hug.

He and Mrs. Palmer were great philanthropists, much benefitting the Orlando area with the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies (where my granddaughter was born) and the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

"Arnie's Army" is in mourning.

Although nobody in my family was into golfing, I remember all my life seeing him on TV and hearing his name. Nice you got to meet him and his wife Jujube. Rest in peace Arnold.

My husband told me this afternoon. Makes us sad. He was such a gentleman to the sport. I can remember him from "way" back! Prayers for his family.

I enjoyed him when I was a kid. He was a real gentleman of the sport and put golf on the map.

Sad to hear. I didn't realize he was in his late 80s.

RIP, a true icon. A true professional and class act. And a great ambassador for the sport.
