R.Lee Ermey Dead at 74

I always had flashbacks of being back on the Island when I watched him on TV, even when he spoke about weapons on the Military Channel. Usually, when I would see him in any part, it sent me back to him being in the movie, "Full Metal Jacket." Sometimes, I would shudder just watching him. That's the way it used to be in the Marines. I am told that things have changed and it's not so much like that anymore.
I still remember my one run-in with my DI. He wanted me to fight him outside the barracks. I never knew why. Just when things were calmed down and everything was going pretty good for us, he tried to egg me or one of the other recruits on to fighting him. I told him one day that I would not and he asked me why. I told him because of those stripes on his sleeves. Damned if he didn't take his shirt off.
