Rabbiting women on the radio, (I know I am guilty of this but I am not broadcasting!)

Obviously those chosen to go on the airwaves and broadcast have to be eloquent, or articulate or they would not be able to do the job at all, though in my humble view this is no excuse for the types of presenters who I believe insult the intelligence of their audience by either saying the same thing a number of times!:(

They do this all in slightly different ways as a way of making their point more understandable they'd argue, re-enforcing their arguments etc., or else using all kinds of trivial buzz phrases like "I know how you feel" when interviewing someone who is maybe equally boring!:sneaky:

I have to say it, (especially as its in the thread title), most of these presenters who get up my nose are ladies, (my suspicion being they got their jobs partly as a result of broadcasting organisations having to fill up positions whilst influenced by "equality quotas" !).

I know I'm as bad as anyone when it comes to going on about a subject, but as stated (again in the thread title), I'm not attempting to entertain the nation in any way, and only once appeared in a ten second tv slot, and again was once heard speaking in a short-ish radio interview, (both on the same day, all connected to fathers/parents rights, at a protest event).

One of the hosts on KGO news talk in San Francisco rants and raves sometimes. I even emailed her once and told her the ranting and raving wasn't accomplishing anything. Of coarse the hosts have the button and they say what they want and the caller is unable to further reply.

I don't care what sex they are, I hate when there are four presenters all trying to talk at the same time. We call it the Talking Head Circus.
A lot of TV morning 'news' shows do that, the producers and script writers evidently think that's some kind of "plus" to the audience. I think it's plain stupid, juvenile and unprofessional. Did I mention "irritating"?

The programme causing me to start this thread had contributions from at least one man, (maybe a salesperson of some kind, or representing an industry lobby group), but the main presenters were women, (though as said above, Deborah Meadon is usually pretty good at her job).

Maybe part of the trouble is presenters feel the need to try to give all sides of whatever topic it might be, (this was "environmentally designed and built coffins"). Its probably a requirement placed upon them to present all sides of an argument, but saying the same things different ways, and all the "soft soaping" going on, really gets tedious, (by soft soaping I mean the way presenters put forward generalisations, and made cringe worthy comments concerning those choosing said coffins, or their relatives).

I'm not much of a sports fan. My TV service has all kinds of sports channels. But there aren't many pro sports played at 8 AM,, so they fill up time with "On Air Personalities", who just ramble on and on about inane and esoteric topics. They are trying to be "relevant, hard hitting", but it's all opinion, bating the audience and banter. What's weird is if you watch the "news" channels, they sound the same- "On Air Personalities" rambling on and on about inane and esoteric topics. And both are promoting the "home team". I'm not sure if that "rabbiting", but the goal of both is filling up airtime. I assume talk radio is the same. I doubt whether males or females are better "On Air Personalities", or that it matters.

It may just be me, but I do find it difficult to cope with so many of these women presenters.

I can list about five or ten I like, (as a sports fan), but nowadays there seems to be new ones popping up all over the place, and I find I just cant listen to them, so maybe I'm not being completely fair in my assessments.

Does it matter whether presenters of all kinds of programmes are women, well I could give a "deep answer" by saying "It should matter that men and women bring different things, or show different characteristics", (the world shouldn't be all the same should it, "what a dreadful world that would be"!).:sneaky::rolleyes::(;)

I read this whole thing trying to figure out what "rabbiting is". Missed gator's post. Thought maybe it was referring to the males chasing the females around with a focus on making lots of "bunny-babies" and objectifying females, so to speak. But nobody was posting that. Finally looked it up. It's a British expression for talking on and on. Poor rabbits are getting a bad rap :giggle:🐰

What's that you say about "objectifying females", (not something I'd ever do as I'm too busy looking at them. :) !)?
